Born in the late 1980's Flowmaster was the first working 5GL available
to the general public.
Back then a 5GL was an operating system capable of executing pictures,
with the potential to execute multiple threads simultaneously.
The Flowmaster run time executes compiled pictures (simplified Data Flow
Diagrams) outperforming most compiled languages! Source pictures are
quickly and easily refined into working applications simply by pressing
the "bring it alive" button.
Flowmaster contains five powerful editors, each backed by sophisticated
generators and compilers, plus single user, multi-user and network
run times. Not to mention a powerful, scalable database. No code
changes are required to move from single to multi-user as record
locking is automatically provided by the compiler and run times!
Unfortunately the editors and resulting applications are now looking
rather dated,
(even though the concepts are still "futuristic"),
so a major re-vamp is in order.
The first step has almost been completed, the very simple but powerful
Flowmaster programming language has been stripped out and made into a
separate product, RDL.
Note: Not only will RDL be sold as a separate product but it will
also help re-vitalise Flowmaster for a powerful new release later.
